I was at the Buono Beach Clean-Up mentioned in the blog post. Wasn't involved in finding the menhaden, but I picked up an awful lot of cigarette butts--more than at most clean-ups--the second-most common item collected.

#HudsonRiver #Manhattan #Rewilding?

I photographed this goose on Manhattan's Battery Park Greenway on the afternoon of February 6, 2014. Back in high school, I had a teacher who said that geese weirded him out because they walk like dinosaurs. There's a reason (https://thenewleafjournal.com/b/DWq) for that but count me as pro-goose (despite that one time a goose bit me in the 1997-99 area when I was giving it bread).

Sometimes good photos take themselves

Often, when driving to and fro’ in the ‘ol Jeep — but particularly on loooooong road trips — I encounter spectacular views. I’ve gotten good at grabbing the phone, and just tripping the shutter without looking at the phone… days later, I have 157 blurry photos… and this one. Westbound about to cross the Hudson River in upstate New York on a chilly Sunday evening after a Winter Retreat. See? One photo; All the memories too.
