I photographed this goose on Manhattan's Battery Park Greenway on the afternoon of February 6, 2014. Back in high school, I had a teacher who said that geese weirded him out because they walk like dinosaurs. There's a reason (https://thenewleafjournal.com/b/DWq) for that but count me as pro-goose (despite that one time a goose bit me in the 1997-99 area when I was giving it bread).

I took this photograph from the John Street Lawn (a small park) in DUMBO, Brooklyn, on the morning of June 6, 2026 (see park location: https://www.openstreetmap.org/?#map=19/40.704914/-73.987762). The blue bridge in the foreground is the Manhattan Bridge, and its overpass perfectly frames the Manhattan Skyline (the Freedom Tower and City Hall are both visible). You can also see the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

Seen in Brooklyn Heights (NYC), a "Stick Library." This is a play on the "Little Free Library" boxes (of which there are a few in the area), featuring items of greater interest to dogs. I have not seen any person or dog use the library, but the sticks do change between visits.

I took this photograph through my window (Brooklyn, NYC) on February 22, 2026. You can see a very snow-covered tree (it will soon be covered in pink flowers). This photo came out surprisingly well given the conditions and my limited Ubuntu Touch-powered camera on my Google Pixel 3a XL (if I do say so myself). Only mildly touched up with Krita.

Pictured is a memorial bust of Robert F. Kennedy in Columbus Park near Brooklyn Borough Hall. I took the photo on February 24, 2026, which was the day following a blizzard. You should not need all 20 questions to ascertain which way the wind had been blowing.

A goose in Brooklyn Bridge Park stares at the Statue of Liberty. To be sure, it was not actually staring at the Statue of Liberty, but sometimes your photograph just works out that way. I was walking through Grand Army Plaza back in August 2023 when someone handed me a box of water. I drank the boxed water. It was fine water. Good enough to make me buy boxed water? No. But I digress. The box was very verbose. On the side the box promises that the company will plant two trees if you post a photo of the box with #betterplanet. Note the box does not say WHERE you have to post the hashtag. I assume this offer is applicable to Pixelfed. I'll do a second hashtag so maybe we get four trees.
