A shot along the Hudson River Ice Meadows today. The Ice meadows are home to 15 endangered or rare plant species. They also have amazing ice formations in the winter months as ice is pushed up on the banks and re-freezes.
The ice scours the banks during the winter months removing most woody vegetation and allowing these rare species to continue to populate this habitat.
It's still early so not much was up for vegetation.
All of NY state's ice meadow are found in the Adirondack region or in the St Lawrence and Lake Champlain valleys.
