“Tribute to Berlage”. Sand stone sculpture part of the bridge on Parnassusweg, Amsterdam, by Hildo Krop, 1941. The sculpture depicts Berlage the architect (front), painter Roland Holst (right), and sculptor Mendes da Costa (back). Since the latter was Jewish, the sculpture was not placed in public until after the end of WW2.

Bridge number 382 is a special kind of bridge called a bascule bridge. It was built in 1️⃣9️⃣3️⃣5️⃣ and designed by P.L. Kramer in the Amsterdam School style. The decorations were made by Kramer, Jaap Kaas, and Hildo Krop. ⚒️

At the end of the quay wall, you can see a fun sculpture of two sea lions playing with a ball. It’s a nice detail that makes the bridge unique. 🦭🦭⚽️

This bridge is important because of its creative design and beautiful stone carvings. It shows the special style of Amsterdam architecture from the 1930s. 🏛️
