Bitte KEINE Tipps, wie man es mit einem eigenen NAS o.ä. machen könnte! Ich will definitiv die Daten auch außerhalb des Hauses haben.

Super, that was easy.
I just setup #Joplin on my #iPad to synchronise with my #Strato #HiDrive using #WebDAV. No hassle, it was straight working.
Next I did the setup on my #Android phone.
Also straight working. All the notes I created on my iPad appeared on my phone. #BigUp 👍🏻

Next step will be to check out if it will work properly with concurring changes.

Ich benutze HiDrive schon länger als Cloudspeicher und bin eigentlich recht zufrieden. Heute habe ich gesehen, dass HiDrive auch zusätzliche Protokolle unterstützt, mit denen man HiDrive flexibel in die eigenen Systeme einbinden kann. Enthalten sind: SFTP/FTPS, SMB/CIFS, Git, SCP und rsync.
Leider kostet es 5 € zusätzlich. Aber das ist es mir wahrscheinlich wert.

I just realized that Ionos' HiDrive has an option for rsync!

I've never checked whether a European provider would offer rsync filesystem access for Linux systems, but now, with Trump at the helm, it has become an urgent issue.

I just stumbled across rclone. A tool for syncing files to cloud storage. Which can also encrypt and decrypt the data. So... something for a encrypted remote backup. Not only it works with SSH/SFTP, but also with a lot of other service like S3, Google Cloud Storage, HiDrive, Hetzner Cloud Storage and so on (see https://rclone.org/docs/).

Maybe I will create an blog post about rclone in the near future, because the docs weren't that straightforward (at least for me).

But in short (even when the examples sates otherwise), you need to add two hosts: one for sftp/ssh/rsync (or any other services) and one for "crypt". Then it will be encrypted on the sending computer.

Nice... I am positively surprised.

Mounten meint das Einbinden eines Devices... nicht nur bei #Linux, auch z.B. bei #OpenVMS.
