Hasbro tried to make D&D the Everything RPG which it really isn't.

There are plenty of things D&D - as a rules framework - does well, but also a heapin pile of stuff it doesn't do well because of rules /system inheritance

Which reminds me of Star Wars and the current Disney Incarnations of Star Wars.

Disney wants to make Star Wars the Framework for all and every other kind of genre and that.. it's not working.
