@timixretroplays yikes...

Tho granted all #Freemailers are shit and some like https://web.de & https://gmx.de do force people to login on their website so their accounts don't get wiped.

  • They also do the dick move of disabling #IMAP & #SMTP per default (at leadt they don't paywall it like @protonprivacy does!)

Personally I use #aliases & forwarder for inbound eMails.

WEB.DE - kostenlose E-Mail-Adresse, FreeMail & Nachrichten

Sichere Kommunikation, aktuelle Nachrichten und nützliche Online-Services - alles an einem Ort. Einfach, kostenlos und zuverlässig.

@delta @madsee34583 AFAIK you could use any mailserver pending it does #IMAP & #SMTP.

  • You may want to get some decent one from a reputable webhoster as #Freemailers tend to severely limit the amount of messages to make their accounts useless for #Spammers...

Not shure what @monocles / https://mail.monocles.eu has as limits tho.

@ustralien @anttim @torvalds @linuxfoundation that argument is kinda absurd given the #facts and #reality:

@deilann The problem is that proactive screening of signups doesn't really work and demaning it would most likely just be weaoinized to demand all social networks to instate "ID Verification" instead...

Which is a terrible idea for more reasons than it could 'fix'...

I'd only thing that works is #moderation and enforcement of rules...

Personally, I'd rather deny-list all #Freemailers and #eMail from #Domains that have #WHOIS #privacy or are known for #Spamming instead.

@yuki2501 to put the analogy with other #decentralized & #MultiVendor & #MultiProvider options together:

Only #DenyLosting bad actors is boing to work.

I'd rather block all the shitty "#Freemailers without #Abuse-Handling" like #GMail, #Outlook.com & #YahooMail than only doing allow-listings...

@charlotte @talon @Purple

I mean there's a reason why some Sites flat-out ban those "#freeDomains" if not all #NewGTLDs and #Freemailers...

Case in point: Most spammers that don't get automagically blocked use big sites and servers. Basically all #Spam I encoutered was either from #GMail, #Outlook.com / Hosted #Exchange on #Azure and #YahooMail...

@sirsquishy @nextcloud *#facehoof* I find using #Freemailers for commercial & business use cases to be rather unprofessional. (Not going to talk about #MS365 and their unwillingness to comply with #GDPR & #BDSG since that doesn't seem to apply here.)

You could offer them #managed #Zulip & #JitsiMeet as an easy upsell if that's an option if not #NextcloudHub or #OpenXChange if that's what your business does.

I just can't stand #Slack, #Teams and #Zoom...
