I hope everyone at #SXSW #UK plans to protest loudly. They should cancel all programming & hold demonstrations instead. They should bring them in via #Zoom or whatever right outside #Parliament. Or hell bring them to #NorthernIreland & do a rally at the #UK border.

Hallo @alfaview - möchte echt unbedingt eine Alternative zu #Zoom nutzen und bin mit der Videoleistung von @infomaniak_network so gar nicht zufrieden. Eure Plattform sieht ja super aus, aber ich warte jetzt für ein Abopaket von 4€ pro Monat seit einigen Stunden auf ein schriftliches „Angebot“ von Euch? #Digitalisierung

Sigh ... I remember when #Zoom you could just set up a scheduled meeting is a few seconds, because is was basically just a video call with a calendar. Now because it wants to 'open workspace' and other nonsense it takes long enough for me to write this toot while waiting. #enshittification

It's actually interesting how obvious it is to spot whether or not someone who made a #YouTube video used to work for #Vox or the #NYT:

- Video is either #1080p at 60 FPS or in #4K

- Creator is white or Jewish

- Video is longer than 10 minutes

- Video includes footage of the person making the video from multiple locations

- Video has about 80k views or more by the time you get around to watching it

- The video includes firsthand research or experiments instead of relying entirely on other peoples' research and statistics

- The channel is only a few years old, or the contract creator only started posting a few years ago

- The editing style is always the same

- If the video is longer than 25 minutes, it might have an interview with someone else over #Zoom that lasts 5 minutes

🎉 #DIDit again. Heute hat das "Kolloquium Wissensinfrastruktur" der Universitätsbibliothek Bielefeld, eines der altehrwürdigsten Formate für den Austausch über aktuelle Bibliotheksthemen, erstmals im virtuellen Format auf #BigBlueButton stattgefunden, weil ich es erbeten habe. Ich hatte zu den Entwicklungen um die politischen Datensäuberungen durch die Trump-Regierung in den USA und das Datenrettungskollektiv #SafeguardingResearch #SciOp referiert.

Will nur festhalten: Wer referiert, kann auch sein Mitspracherecht wahrnehmen, auf welcher Plattform der eigene Auftritt stattfinden soll. Ich möchte nicht auf #Zoom stattfinden, immer noch nicht, und in Zeiten wie diesen erst recht nicht. Dasselbe gilt für Webex, Teams und was es sonst noch für KI-fizierte proprietäre Plattformen von Big Tech gibt, denen ich und meine digitale Selbstbestimmung egal bin.

Fun Fact: Nur @chpietsch und ich selbst hatten mit einem Privacy hardened Browser Probleme bei der Mikrofonverbindung. Das nächste Mal nutze ich wieder die BBB-Instanz von Senfcall, die haben scheinbar eine freundlichere Konfiguration als meine Hochschule, dort funktioniert es jedenfalls alles auf Anhieb (gerade eben noch mal getestet).
