My very first attempt at a fish pie. I’ve made shepherd’s pie in the past (veggie version though, but still) and it was enjoyable so this had been somewhere in the back of my mind as something I really wanna try.

Bit difficult since I’ve never really poached fish and I think I kinda messed it up (plus I don’t have haddock or cod so I used lavaret and salmon) and I think I might have used a bit too much cheddar (if there even is such a thing) but it ought to taste nice once it’s done. We’ll see. 🤞

I’ll need to heat up some peas still and then it ought to be ready to eat.

Reminded by a TV advert just now. Been a while since we had one so we picked up a Charlie Bigham's Fish Pie over the weekend and cooked it yesterday. It is fabulously tasty...

...but you cook it in the wooden tray in the oven. And it's been over a day now and our whole house still smells of burning wood. I like the smell of burning wood. In moderation.

Vandaag op het menu van Hugo: een fishpie van schelvis met prei en mosterd én een courgette-radijssalade on the side. Je kunt hier verschillende soorten witvis voor gebruiken, maar Hugo gaat vandaag voor Schelvis. Net even wat goedkoper dan kabeljauw, maar net zo lekker!
