#MikhailBakunin was born on #ThisDayInHistory in 1814. One of the founders of #AnarchoCommunism as an ideology, he famously sparred with #KarlMarx in the #FirstInternational over the rôle of the state (he saw its danger). But #Bakunin was also an #antisemitic piece of shit, so...

Next up: history.

About the First International, the Paris Commune, and the socialist split.

One: the First International.
The International Workingmen's Association, known as the First International, was an organisation campaigning for workers' rights. They existed from 1864 to 1876. They organised strikes all over Europe, and showed the usefulness of unions and class solidarity. They weren't revolutionary, in that they didn't aim at dismantling the system, but this was a very foundational moment.

And people complain about leftist debate now

Explanation:

The First International was a international organisation of left-wing radicals with two mayor factions, the anarchists lead by Mikhail Bakunin and the communists lead by Karl Marx. Bakunin made many antijudaist (the concept of antisemitism was only coined later by the Nazis) remarks, especially regarding the ethnically Jewish Marx. Marx also made antijudaist remarks, in On the Jewish Question he equates Judaism with huckstering. He also calls Ferdinand Lassalle a Jewish n-word. It is worth noting that antijudaism was not essential to either ones thought, nor are they valued for the antijudaism.

One way to see the daylight between #KarlMarx and many so-called #Marxists is to note his preamble to the general rules of the #FirstInternational, published #ThisDayInHistory in 1864: "the emancipation of the working classes must be conquered by the working classes themselves."

The West of Scotland Cricket ground is the home of the first international football match. And today they celebrate the first international match between England and Scotland. The game changed that day as English footballers were introduced to the Scottish passing style and modern football was born.

So what are the SFA, FA, UEFA or FIFA doing? Sweet FA.

September 1872: #MikhailBakunin was expelled from the #FirstInternational by #KarlMarx and his followers. Anarchist #Bakunin then and later criticized that Marxist regimes would lead to "the despotism of the ruling minority" ("Statism and Anarchy", 1873). 🏴 The Institute for #Anarchist Studies (#IAS) is sharing #25AnarchistMoments. 👉 https://anarchiststudies.org/25-moments-for-25-years/
