Used up some leftovers to make beef and mushroom in oyster sauce, stir fried vegetables and rice, sticky honey tofu balls with sesame, and sweet and sour sauce.

When Mothman is not mothing, he is usually tormenting his other half with his cookering. I love making #vegan Asian style food especially with homegrown veggies (today, aubergine and green beans). Tonight is a medley of:

Gochuchang spiced crispy cauliflower / aubergine and green bean vegan oyster sauce and ginger stew / soy and mirin corn / and jasmine rice, sprinkled with shichimi togarashi.

One thing I like as much as mothing is trying to recreate #takeaway as #fakeaway. We love Nepalese food and so, for #Vegan Wednesday (is that a thing?) I had a bash at some ghee-free Nepalese *style* dishes that we often order.

Made 4 #dinner dishes:

Split pea dal tadka, farsi takari (a kind of butternut squash stew), aloo methi potatoes and, of course, my easy peasy naan bread. Enough leftover to enjoy it all again tomorrow!

Tonight's dinner: Nostalgic throw back to my teen years, the Red rooster hot chicken roll and chips. Adapted a little from the original, a crispy tiger roll instead of a soggy steamed sesame bun, lime and tahini mayo instead of a vat produced noegg slimy mayolike liquid and I added some crunchy cabbage that had no place in the original. #dinner #food #chicken #FakeAway #FoodPictures
Tonight's dinner: Fakeaway night. Honey chicken, steamed rice and gai lan with oyster sauce. #chicken #dinner #food #FoodPictures #fakeaway
Tonights dinner: Korean fried chicken, rice, pickles and the first taste of my kimchi that has been festering since early March. Cooking this for 3 teens is a normally a sisyphusian effort, they always ask for more just when you think you are done, this time I was ready with 2 kg of chicken thighs. I did the double fry thing and did the last fry to order as they cycled through the kitchen and out to the dinner table. #dinner #food #FoodPictures #chicken #fakeaway #pickles
Tonight's dinner: Home made "zinger" burgers. Brine the chicken in spicy vinegar for a few hours, deep fry it breaded with a spicy flour mix, whack it on a bun slathered with super spicy mayo add some cheese and lettuce and eat with chips. I had a single, but the teens had doubles. #dinner #food #chicken #fakeaway #FoodPictures
Tonight's dinner: an attempt at replicating the Brim CC cafe Tokyo tomato chicken curry. This was a lunchtime fav of mine for years. This effort turned out pretty good, taste was right, but it needed to be thicker. Next time. Served with mixed white and red rice and the family standard: a small pile of slaw. #dinner #fakeaway #curry #chicken #food #FoodPictures
Last night's tea: a lower calorie #homecooked #fakeaway version of crispy chilli beef, made in 15 mins. I served it with a mixed rice which doens't photograph well. https://www.omnomfrickinnom.com/blog/2024-04-13-chilli-beef-weightwatchers-airfrier/
