TIL: All of the honeybees in the USA… are immigrants. The “European Honeybee” was brought to North America in the 1600’s and they are doing just fine, being domesticated farm animals. There are plenty of farmers looking out for their honeybees because they are an integral part of the agriculture industry. It’s the 19,999 OTHER BEE SPECIES that need our help!

#honeybee’s are still seriously active as we head into our cooler weather now.

This was one very busy #bee seeing to business today, near #Caulfield #Australia.

Only females gather pollen and nectar; much of which will be stored in the hive for cold-season food.

It’s markings are typical of the European honey bee; also referred to as the Western honey bee (Apis mellifera).

The #EuropeanHoneyBee is the most common of all the species of honey bees worldwide. This species occupies every continent except Antarctica.
