I’ve been experimenting with creating my own decorative endpapers for bookbinding using natural ink made from local plants. This is my favourite so far. It’s all viburnum opulus berries. The pink is the ink after boiling with water. I added a little lemon juice to raise the acidity after discovering it turns blue where it reacts with the acid-free paper as I wanted to preserve some of the vibrant pink, the burnt orange is mixed with a little bicarb of soda.
