KimberleyI’ve been experimenting with creating my own decorative endpapers for bookbinding using natural ink made from local plants. This is my favourite so far. It’s all viburnum opulus berries. The pink is the ink after boiling with water. I added a little lemon juice to raise the acidity after discovering it turns blue where it reacts with the acid-free paper as I wanted to preserve some of the vibrant pink, the burnt orange is mixed with a little bicarb of soda.
This is the first one i created with the viburnum berries. The orange splotches are marigold petals. I accidentally smudged it by putting some baking paper on when it was wet but maybe i can work that in to the pattern when i coat it with paste! 🤷♀️
