🇬🇧⬇️ Eines unserer größten Exponate sind die "Stadtmusikanten". 🐴🐶🐱🐔
Wie bei vielen unserer Exponate knüpfen sich auch an dieses Kunstwerk aus alten und teilweise unvollständigen naturkundlichen Präparaten weit mehr als nur die offensichtlichen Geschichten:
Eine Reise durch Kunst, Biologie, Sammlungsgeschichte, Volksglaube u.v.m. macht bereits dieses eine Stück möglich. 🤔😮
Entstanden ist die Installation übrigens in unserer eigenen Museumswerkstatt. Dort werden die "Musikanten" auch im Zuge unseres aktuellen Wunderkammerausbaus in den nächsten Monaten überholt und bekommen im Anschluss auch bald einen neuen Platz in der Ausstellung spendiert (vielleicht findet der Doktor bis dahin auch noch einen Esel 😁😉).

🇬🇧 One of our largest exhibits is the "Town Musicians". 🐴🐶🐱🐔
As with many of our exhibition pieces, this artwork, made from old and partially incomplete natural history specimens, has far more to it than meets the eye:
This single piece takes visitors on a journey through art, biology, collection history, folk beliefs and much more. 🤔😮
By the way, the installation was created in our own museum workshop. There, the "musicians" will also be refurbished over the next few months as part of our Wunderkammer expansion and will soon be given a new place in the exhibition (maybe the Doctor will find a donkey by then 😁😉).

I finished a sword restoration today. This is a 1790 dated French Revolutionary officer's sabre. It is called a Petit Montmorency or sometimes a miner's sword. Somehow it ended up in Central Alberta. To restore it I re-did the wire wrap, replacing part of the copper strip. The leather grip was rejuvenated and cleaned. I cleaned the rusted blade, and re-shaped the deformed hilt. I added a chape to the scabbard, and cleaned silver paint off it. #Sabre #Restorations #antiques
