This kettlestich ist so great for notebooks and sketchbooks because it opens completely flat.
Also my first attempt at the zig-zag front. Not bad but I guess it works better with thicker paper. This one's 80gsm (with self printed dots).

Dennis WilkinsonRecently-completed project: a hand-bound copy of Burroughs' "The Land That Time Forgot". I did everything from typesetting on up to the binding and casing, including hand-sewing the endbands and gilding the top edge. One or two small errors, but it was a learning exercise to begin with.
Ann-MiI made 3 of my nephews one #junkJournal each, made from a Lego #Batman box, paper bags, magazine pages, and other random scraps of paper including gelli print experiments.
I hope they will use them. I'll try to explain to them they can do what they want: glue in pictures, stickers, labels, draw, write... and that if they don't like something in it they can cover it or take it out.
They are bound with a simple pamphlet stitch.

Their pages are off white 190gsm Saunders Waterford 100% cotton paper produced by St. Cuthberts Mill in the UK. The books have torn edges with an occasional watermark visible in some pages. Each book in this series has an antiqued metal ring on its back so they can be attached to a cord and connected together or used as a pendant.
