A more ethical Framework competitor?

Framework recently sponsored and advertised Hyprland and Omarchy, two fairly unremarkable projects unrelated except for the fact that they are led by hateful and (at least in Omarchy’s case) fascist tech bros. See also this thread for everyone voicing their disappointment. I am still hopeful that the company will change course on this, but Nirav’s recent tweet suggests he doesn’t really care. That’s unacceptable to me, so I’m probably going to have to return my new Framework 16 in the next week...

I have seen Omarchy Linux ... but for some reason I missed Omfreebdy FreeBSD based alternative.

I personally use X11 and prefer it over Wayland - but I now know that Omfreebdy comes with X11 version as well.

Great to see such option available.

While #Omarchy is a nice topping for #ArchLinux, it's simply too opinionated. When DHH decides: "Aight guys, we (and by "we" I mean "I") will replace waybar with quickshell in the next release" you basically have to accept that or work around it. That doesn't play well with me and my opinions of a sovereign system.

Therefore I just tried my first #NixOS install and so far I'm liking it very much. Gonna play around with it the next few weeks. I might replicate some Omarchy things, though.
