I made a thing. 😎
After diving into #HomeAssistant, I discovered #ESPhome and started playing with it.
Now I have an #ESP32 board that fetches dad-jokes in regular intervals (https://icanhazdadjoke.com/) and displays them on a little e-ink display that was leftover from another project.
Took me a while, and my family hates the jokes. Time well spent. 🤣

I could have made a nice front cover for the PCBs but I wanted it to look technical and unfinished.

The previous version had a pico-w instead of esp32-h2 and a much uglier flat "case" which didn't look as nice as I imagined on the side of my fridge.

Maybe the next iteration will be with e-ink display and battery powered, which is a whole different challenge to make the battery last months.

My little magnetic kitchen indoor/outdoor thermometer. Made this from two unused tm1637 modules and a esp32-h2.

I don't like home automation dashboards in the living space so just putting a tablet on the wall was not an option 🤓

Normally where are sprinkler water valves located? I'm wanting to build a watering system for my outdoor potted plants that has a few outputs for different groups of plants or planter/pot sizes, but keeps looking like pricey garden valves are the norm, and I just want to anti-ADHD-ify my plants.

Probably going to use ESPHome's sprinkler component since you can set when multiple valves are needed to hit a target zone.
