Quali informazioni passerà all'Iran

A Chinese superliner has arrived in the Strait of Hormuz. Will it help Iran?

AGI - The Liaowang-1, a Chinese technological super-ship, has arrived in the Strait of Hormuz: 225 meters long, 30,000 tons in displacement, it is part of the fleet assisting China’s development and space missions. It has a data collection and processing capacity measured in thousands of petabytes (a petabyte is a million gigabytes): it can ‘cover’ up to 6,000 kilometers with its radar, detecting missiles, launch sites, air and aircraft carrier activities.

Its electronic intelligence (Elint) collection capabilities and monitoring of foreign launches allow it to spy on and target adversary space assets, but in this case it is able to follow and monitor the ongoing activity in the US-Israel and Iran conflict.

What information will be passed to Iran?

It is unknown whether and how much of this information will be turned over to the Iranians and, more importantly, what it will be. Surveillance will likely be dedicated to defensive purposes, namely monitoring missile launches and the gaps between one wave and another. More detailed information (such as the position of ships and aircraft carriers) might not be provided because it is considered ‘hostile,’ triggering a reaction against the ship.

Technical details and functions of the Liaowang-1

The Liaowang-1 is escorted by a cruiser and a destroyer, but it has no weapons on board. Launched in 2023 by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation at the Jiangnan shipyard, this 225-meter and 30,000-ton ship, managed by the Aerospace Force (Asf) of the People's Liberation Army (Pla), completed sea trials between December 2024 and January 2025 and entered service in April 2025. Unlike its predecessors, the Yuanwang, which primarily focused on telemetry, tracking and control (TT&C), the Liaowang-1 introduces multi-mission capabilities, integrating early warning, command and potential countermeasures functions.

That coincidence is no longer trivial. It is now technically loaded.

Yesterday’s Super Hornets were not the operation.
They were the visible front edge of a much larger intelligence picture forming in real time over the Caribbean.
