In the capitalist system, economic processes are separated from democratic oversight, and the concept of a self-regulating market prevails. When the economy determines the living conditions of the majority yet the majority lacks democratic participation in economic decision-making, the legitimacy of democracy becomes a fundamental and often overlooked issue.
