Penn State study on #CognitiveSurrender – an #LLM produces incorrect answers 50% of the time. Out of 1,372 participants and over 9,500 tests, subjects accepted the incorrect answers in 80% of cases ! The rate improves when there is a financial incentive, and decreases when the task is urgent. The group using the LLM has more confidence in its answers than the other group. 🤦

Edit: Guess I need to clarify my post. I don't trust #GenAI #tech. It is garbage in, garbage out. Using it is #CognitiveSurrender.

Is there a use for advanced computation? Of course. When specialized by humans to a particular purpose, computers can perform certain work more quickly and accurately than humans.

But that's not what #Gemini or #ChatGPT or other #LLM systems are. They're fancy auto-complete.
