My #Ubiquiti #DreamMachine died today, a little over 5 years old, make me sad a £330 purchase is now junk, but my DR plan kicked in nicely with the Cloud #backup #restore of the Network Application to my #CloudKey NVR working perfectly. Dug out a small #Unifi switch and AP and fired up the ISP router and I was back in business. Now what do I replace it with, thinking I should separate out the router and AP now and maybe look to future proof with something 2.5Gbps capable, just in case!

So, one breakfast later, "Self signed certificate needs regenerated" in /data/unifi-core/logs/http1.log, what a helpfully unique grammar error.

find / /data /mnt /var -xdev -type f -size -100M -print0 | xargs -0 grep "needs regenerated" - Obfuscated Javascript in /usr/share/unifi-core/app/service.js.

Probably better to approach this from the nginx side and override things in or around /data/unifi-core/config/http/local-certs.conf. #unifi #cloudkey

So the CA-issued TLS certificate on our Unifi Cloudkey disappeared without a trace during a reboot. Not gonna clickbait you, the system does automatic renewals shortly before expiration and when it does, it replaces the valid cert with a newly generated self-signed one. No root cause analysis on a sunday morning, just a new certificate and a README update for my cloudkey-certificate #ansible role. #ssl #tls #unifi #ubiquity #cloudkey #dreckstool https://github.com/mschmitt/cloudkey-certificate

I’ve had issues with my #ubnt #cloudkey for as long as I can remember.

Backups, updates and random behaviours have royally got on my nerves. So much so, I started looking at replacing ubnt across the board.

In a strange turn of events this evening, while trying to get routing sorted on our vpn, I found that it’s default gateway was still set to a firewall I replaced over TWO years ago. #fml

So spent this evening manually getting a backup, and reconfiguring. Wow, the interface and features have moved on! Routing also works 😂

Received the Cloud Key Plus component today, but needed ANOTHER Amazon order to purchase a suitable USB power supply since I'm not already running PoE and none of the myriad of other USB-C power adapters I have worked.

Ordered a Quick Charge 3.0 Anker adapter from Amazon after researching the issue a bit.

We'll find out on Tuesday how this goes, I guess.

Der serielle Port am #Cloudkey ergibt, dass die Festplatte defekt ist. Neue SSD rein, wird sofort eingebunden, alles gucci. Katastrophal invasive Reparatur, weil die Platte zwar hot-swap gewesen wäre, aber ich das ganze Gerät zerpflücken musste, um an die serielle Konsole zu kommen, die mir sofort eine sinnvolle Kernelpanik gezeigt hat. Die Rausnahme des Akku scheint international als Mod anerkannt zu sein, also kleb ich das Gerät mal wieder zusammen. 🩹

Wisst ihr noch, #Ubiquiti? Unser #Cloudkey hat den #Stromausfall nicht überlebt. Also nach der u.g. Anleitung aufgemacht und es ist das ehrloseste, was ich je gesehen habe. Verklebt und verclipst, vollgestopft mit Wärmeleitpads und als Krönung inmitten dieses Trümmerhaufens ein eingeklebter aufgeblähter Akku. Wenn ich jetzt für 200 Euro einen neuen bestelle (ihr lernt heute das Wort "Opportunitätskosten"), gibts zumindest eine neue Hardwarerevision ohne Akku. 🙄 https://colincogle.name/blog/unifi-cloud-key-rescue/
