Quando parla, Eric Cantona non usa mezzi termini. Soprattutto dopo essersi allontanato dal mondo del calcio, l’ex attaccante del Manchester United e della nazionale francese non esita a prendere posizione politica nelle sue rare interviste, ma forti interviste. Lo ha fatto anche durante un’intervista a Clique, il programma di Canal+ condotto da Mouloud Achour. Invitato per promuovere il suo album “Perfect Imperfection”, l’ex calciatore – che si occupa di musica da diversi anni – ha colto l’occasione per parlare anche della guerra in atto dal 28 febbraio, dopo che Usa e Israele hanno attaccato l’Iran. A proposito di ciò, Cantona ha fatto una proposta per diminuire i conflitti a livello internazionale.
L’ex Manchester United, infatti, ha proposto di creare una “legge internazionale che stabilisce che se un presidente decide di dare il via alla guerra, deve essere il primo ad andare al fronte, invece di mandare dei diciottenni. Così penso che ci sarebbero molte meno guerre“, ha affermato Eric Cantona. Nessun attacco diretto, ma Cantona ha poi proseguito: “Stanno tutti in uffici lunghi 25 metri e poi mandano a morte dei diciottenni”, ha denunciato, citando poi Donald Trump come esempio.
“Quando sei l’oppressore, mandi diciottenni dal tuo stesso Paese, ma spesso dall’altra parte non ci sono 18enni. Ci sono bambini di 3 anni e di 11 anni. Persone innocenti, civili. O soldati. Ma ci sarebbero meno guerre se facessimo così, credo. Perché non ci sono molte persone coraggiose”, ha spiegato l’ex attaccante. Cantona ha concluso il suo intervento dicendo: “Nessuno dei miei figli andrà in guerra. Zero. Per cosa? Per chi? Per cosa? Il Milite Ignoto serve solo a incoraggiare gli altri ad andare”.

Regarding this, Cantona made a proposal to reduce international conflicts.
The former Manchester United player, in fact, proposed creating a “international law that states that if a president decides to start a war, he must be the first to go to the front lines, instead of sending 18-year-olds. That’s how I think there would be many fewer wars,” said Eric Cantona. No direct attacks, but Cantona continued: “They’re all in 25-meter-long offices and then they kill 18-year-olds,” he denounced, citing Donald Trump as an example.
“When you’re the oppressor, you send 18-year-olds from your own country, but often there aren’t 18-year-olds on the other side. There are 3-year-olds and 11-year-olds. Innocent civilians. Or soldiers. But there would be fewer wars if we did that, I believe. Because there aren’t many courageous people,” explained the former striker. Cantona concluded his intervention by saying: “None of my children will go to war. Zero. For what? For whom? For what? The Unknown Soldier serves only to encourage others to go.”
