#Clifm works on #Illumos :
I'm going to give my file-manager-hopping a long rest. Way back when, it was Midnight Commander. When I was limited to Windows at work, I liked FreeCommander, then Double Commander, which also runs on Linux. When I retired and became at liberty to run whatever I wanted, I used #Ranger for a long time. More recently I became enamored of #Clifm.

@joshmc
Better? definitely different. I still use both Ranger and clifm, but I think as I get the clifm commands/shortcuts into muscle memory, I will end up there more often than in Ranger.

#CliFm has not received the acclaim that I feel it deserves.

The creator of my new favorite #linux file manager, #CliFm has completed the implementation of a new capability that I had suggested: virtualizing special collections such as clifm bookmarks, tags, and selected items so that the virtualized list can be manipulated by the default clifm tools.

The full implementation will show up in the next release, but it's not difficult to pull and build from github. Note that clifm runs on linux, #MacOS, and #android (under #termux).

Have been troubleshooting #clifm for >1hr and I give up 😂

This kind of problem keep telling my heart to do full migration to #homemanager and #NixOS rather than staying on #Arch+#nix.

And I should put a timer when troubleshooting something 😅

fzf preview tab not working · Discussion #172 · leo-arch/clifm

Hi, anyone know why it's not working? clifm --preview deno.json works just fine. My guess is due to ; prefix but I don't know where it came from. In v1.17 it works fine (I'm using BFG) ...

@koehlerson
Not exactly what you asked for, but #CliFM is a commandline file manager that has many of the features that you may be looking for.

I was searching for Terminal based rust application on #Termux and found tere. Clifm was mentioned in it's wiki.
I never thought any terminal file manager could be usable on smart screens in Termux. But the experience with #clifm is fantastic. Fast, minimal and yet customisable & full featured.
I tried to compile it several times on termux, failed and couldn't resolve the issue.
Last night I made an issue on the github repo and 7 hours later it was done.
Wow it was fast.
