I'm watching Journey to Love and I'm sure it's quite common in #Chinese warrior #movies and #TV shows but the characters are quite badass and sometimes they just fly off somewhere. Just kind of take off and land on the rooftops or something.

That is all.

Me going to watch more Journey to Love.

It has some fun fight scenes and some weird sound effects when they try to do comedy.

It's weird because it all works well. It's enjoyable.

And it's kinda historical - like a period drama - but it's also magical, so it's not so much Dickens or Pride and Prejudice, but more Lord of the Rings.

It's like Lord of the Rings, pretending it's more normal and factually based.

Also I think Mandarin is quite an economical language because they say stuff and I sometimes find it hard to keep up with the reading.

Also it's a bit of an over-complicated story. It's hard to remember who is from which where, but it sort of works and you kind of get the gist.

I don't think it matters too much who is from which group and who is betraying who. You just watch and understand who the bad people are.

Can anyone out there recommend good streaming #CDrama / #ChineseTV shows for me to watch with my 80+yo in-laws? #Mandarin with #Chinese subtitles needed (for them, hard of hearing) and English subtitles appreciated (for me, hard of understanding). Nothing dark, heavy, sad or violent. They are not into martial arts, but some is okay if it’s not just all fighting. Modern or period settings, but prefer to avoid war/occupation and cultural revolution stories. We’re running out of light comedies…

Just watched Eps 5 of "Till The End Of The Moon" (长月烬明)and this episode really amped up the danger, subtlety and intrigue

My #fave #Chinese #KungFu #drama #MiniSeries while growing up in the #eighties was:

#LegendOfTheCondorHeroes ❤ We would go to our Grandparents place every weekend & the whole family would watch it together. I remember learning all the words to this theme song & singing along with it. It's not in our mother tongue but most of us understand & can speak it.
