A new #exhibit has opened up at the #MahSociety of #Edmonton, taking visitors through more than a century of #ChineseCanadian #history.

The Journey of the Horse was created by Sue Mah & Andrea Maru.

The two met on a #heritage tour in 2019 back to their #ancestral village in southern #China, where they both inspired to share their family’s history & the #hardships early #Chinese #settlers to #Canada experienced.

In 2022, on the 100th anniversary, the #GreaterVictoriaSchoolDistrict issued an #apology for this & the #ChineseCommunity marched to #commemorate the actions of students who walked out in protest of the segregation.

A new exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Immigration in Halifax would never have come to fruition had JJ Lee not stumbled upon a century-old immigration certificate while clearing out her parents' attic in the early days of the pandemic.

Betty never married, yet she was the #matriarch of the Lynn family. Each year on Canada Day, Betty organized a family reunion at her parent’s gravesite in Toronto. She wanted the family to pay respects to her father, who first arrived in 1911, and her mother, who arrived in 1920.
