Very insightful podcast on the beauty of living childfree, on living slowly, in nature instead of in urban settings.

Epicurean Simplicity — Population Balance

The future is bioregional. Writer Stephanie Mills reflects on decades of questioning growth and cultivating a rooted relationship with the living world. She advocates for an Epicurean simplicity - choosing the simple pleasures of community, place, and nature.

Population Balance

Please take a moment to appreciate this man named Tom Coleman who ran on singles rights, but who has been an activist my whole life for people like me.

I remember him from the 90s because his take was that Childfree people should be getting tax breaks instead of taxed more, since we are not adding more people to the earth that can’t handle all of us as it is.

Rent was still affordable back then, but even then he acknowledged that single people pay a penalty simply by being single. If I’m sharing a one-bedroom apartment with a partner I am paying half what I would pay as a single person in a one bedroom, for example.

He is retired now, and there’s probably no chance anyone will pick this up again until after the depression we have coming & then some rebuilding. But this really could have been something good.

#Introduction Good morning! I managed to survive the transition of power yesterday with my normal good cheer in tact by grabbing a new Jodi Picoult novel, some hot coffee, chocolate and staying in bed for most of the day! I'm new here. I'm a Criminology Professor. I love #books #restaurants #flute #comfortfoods #colorado #USLSoccer and being a #bbw I'm happily single & #childfreebychoice I'm part of the 92% who are too tired and too disappointed to care about much anymore. Save yourselves. 💜

I said that I'd just turned 50, and don't have a moment's regret, in fact, I'm so relieved I didn't.

She said most people haven't supported her and have just criticised her decision.

It's shocking that so many people think women (and men) can't make their own personal reproductive life choices. But this can be the biggest decision people make, it's forever life-changing.
Be true to yourself. Have courage in your convictions.

Be happily #Childfree #ChildfreeByChoice

I was having a conversation with someone at work this morning. She's in her mid-30s, and she's splitting from her boyfriend because he wants children, and she doesn't.

She's been bombarded with people saying, "You'll change your mind", and "You'll miss out".

‪I told her I was sorry it's come to that, but I really respect her decision. That she is being true to herself and that she can't change her mind for his sake, when she would end up resenting him.

Isn't it about time we stopped #gaslighting women about their personal reproductive & lifestyle choices?
For years, people (mostly mothers) went on at me to have children, coming up with the usual crap about "regretting it", that'd I would "change my mind" and all that BS I'd heard a thousand times.
They presumed to know me more than I know myself.

Guess what?
I recently turned 50 and do not regret being child-free for one single second.

The mothers who regret having kids: ‘I wished I were holding a cat and not a baby’

While it’s rare for regretful parents to speak out openly, there’s evidence that they are a real and struggling minority

I haven't been nagged at for being child-free by choice in quite some time. Now I'm 50, I thought it had ceased.

But no, only a couple of days ago I was asked if I regretted it and told that "some women have children around 50."

Fuck, no.

Oh, and the number of regrets I have?
Well......
