It seems to be widely accepted at the moment that making steel in the UK is not profitable, and so the government need to step in if we decide that making steel is important to our national security.
But other countries can make steel profitably.
I've not heard #Brexit mentioned in this context, but it has got me wondering if there is a Brexit angle to all this.
Anyone know why the UK seems to be unusual in being unable to turn a profit from making steel?
Are we supposed to celebrate?
UK morning show cornflakes announce "the rate of inflation has slowed down to 2.6%" Adding for those not good at arithmetic- "It still means that prices are rising, but not as fast as before"
I guess the truth would put you off your toast.
The cost of living has doubled and now the economy has stagnated. If you are lucky enough to be still employed, don't even think of asking for a raise because a tax trap will eat it.
