1) had privilege of being a founding organizer of #BlockSidewalk citizen movement to stop #Google from developing their #Toronto smartcity project. When they withdrew: army of #privacy lawyers they assembled *all* migrated to auto industry (and yup it’s ugly)

2) only peeps wanting more robust #privacy law are citizens (all nations). Existing Corps, Govs, Agencies, Pols, Parties, Strategists now irreversibly addicted to #surveillance #data

"In the past few months, they’ve found some formidable allies – the activists who helped stop Sidewalk’s sister company Google from opening a startup campus in Berlin a year ago. “They really raised expectations and pushed us to understand what’s at stake," said Ms. Fueser, who’s led communications between the two cities."

"But the 437-page book documents how much private control of city services and city life Google parent company Alphabet Inc.’s leadership envisioned when it created the company, which could soon be entitled to some of the most valuable underdeveloped real estate in North America, estimated by one firm to be worth more than half-a-billion dollars."

Known internally as the ‘yellow book,’ 437-page report from 2016 describes life in a Sidewalk neighbourhood such as Toronto’s proposed Quayside site as an experience based, in part, on how much data people are willing to share
