This morning I submitted an Access to Information Request to the Toronto Port Authority, to find out how that survey was designed.
"Please provide all email messages sent or received by Toronto Port Authority employees regarding the consultation survey launched June 8 2026 on the topic of future expansion of the Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ). This should include any email threads discussing question addition, removal, rephrasing, and any directions received from leadership. This should include any proposed, draft, or final content for the survey, and the date range should be January 1 2026 to June 7 2026."

Big increases to noise - larger planes have larger engines which operate differently and which can be heard over larger distances, even if they might average out similarly to current planes.
Big increases to air pollution - all those jets are burning more fuel. All the larger fuel trucks and larger luggage trucks and the previously mentioned cars and their exhaust.
They plan to quintuple air traffic meaning big increases to car congestion - many air travelers arrive by car, taxi, uber, lyft…
Big increases to air congestion on the waterfront - planes every few minutes, moving faster, over a much larger portion of the city - all the way from the Portlands to High Park at low altitudes.
