@[email protected] @[email protected] *pressing X for doubt*… Personally, I've not seen #Tox doin' much… - I wish to be wrong, but the only way I can see shit to not go down into a neufeudalist dystopia with cyberfascist lordship at the helm is by teaching proper #TechLiteracy to the masses! - Unless the average *"#TechIlliterate" #Normie* uses @[email protected], #PGP & #OMEMO *for everything* we'll always stand out and make #BULLRUN (aka. #BruteForce) a feasible strategy!! Thus it's important to outcall the state of things but also get the Normies to understand the seriousness if the situation. - So far we *"#TechLiterates"* failed in this *fundamentally*…

Wondering if anyone was still using #BitMessage and if there was something interesting there to persuade me to dig in again.

Anyone doing anything with it?

It uses strong authentication which means that the sender of a message cannot be spoofed, and it aims to hide "non-content" data, like the sender and receiver of messages, from passive eavesdroppers like those running warrantless wiretapping programs."

Secure messaging, anywhere - Briar

Secure messaging, anywhere

#Bitmessage is one of those projects that is pretty annoying with the whole "let's continue development for literal years (7) but document the features nowhere and make no releases".

At this point I simply have no idea what is in the thing and it just feels all kinds of sus, so I haven't touched it.

#deltachat #bitmessage #demonsaw #retroshare #freenet #zeronet #tox
Who can help me expand this list?

#zeronet is dead
#toxcore had the wrong license
#demonsaw is probably a scam
#deltachat is awesome
#bitmessage was awesome

As far as communication goes, I really liked #bitmessage which failed, in my opinion, because it was implemented as a GUI application rather than a library. And then there was #tox which failed because it was #gpl licensed rather than #lgpl. And that's where #deltachat comes in with the almost instant, hassle-free, on-boarding and true #e2ee. Understanding we have no access to whatsapp, customers are quick to install #deltachat and avoid all the drama.

@octade @phlogiston

Wow! It's been a long time since I heard about bitmessage again. But why? The security nerds should swear on it. It's fully safe, private and anonym, if you can say such things about software at all.

It seems it has been forgotten by many. But if you really need a good OpSec, bitmessage is surely a good option. And if you use it with tails (needs an installation of some packages) it's also easy to use.
