Just made my Scratch account. Might not seem like a big deal, but it feels like my first step toward my game development journey. ๐ŸŽฎ

Learning to play a musical instrument involves scales and arpeggios. Game development has beginner exercises too: clone Pong, Breakout, Flappy Bird, a platformer like 2D Mario, and a vertical shoot-em-up. candlesan explains

Game Dev for beginners - make these 5 games to get started

Did some more refactoring of #bHopper tonight, moving more of the game out of one giant event sheet and into specific, smaller event sheets (e.g., player controller, weapons, enemy AI, etc.). Added gamepad support for the features that are there, and it's quickly becoming my favourite way to play. Considering an alternative to direct keyboard control for PC controls (e.g., a sort of look-towards-the-cursor system, to give more fine control to the movement and aiming than WASD alone provides). Added the ability to switch weapons on mobile. Still have a ton of stuff to add to make the core loop solid, and it's desperate for some UI work. I'm just happy to be back to work on it after a long time away.

Rediscovering my game (I've been away from it for a bit) and refactoring! Things were getting too messy to keep organized, and one giant event sheet isn't conducive to expanding the game or adding different modes, so I'm breaking out different pieces into external events. First things first: player controller. And I figured, while I'm in there recreating things and simplifying, why not add gamepad support? So now it supports keyboard, touch, and gamepad. Starting to think I need a more elegant solution for the keyboard controls, maybe a keyboard/mouse combo to smooth things over a bit.

I've got a few new #devlogs to post which I should have time for over the coming week, but in the meantime here's what my game is looking like atm. #beginnergamedev, #monogame, #screenshotsaturday
I've started on my second practice project created in #monogame. This is the first #devlog video where I run through the basic concept and early artwork. #learntocode #beginnergamedev https://youtu.be/ZBUBrVxPF_0

@awkravchuk thanks for cl-allegro and cl-fast-ecs, having great fun with it. Question: do you have sample code for collision detection with it somewhere? If not, how would you approach it? #beginnergamedev
Taking a break from my pong game. Spent a bit of time fiddling with some artwork for a new #monogame project. #gamedev #beginnergamedev #pixelart
This #devlog was difficult to make! Everything I have tried to add to the game has just introduced bugs and now all I have is a broken mess of an unfinished game! #gamedev #monogame #gamedevfails #beginnergamedev https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELb_kYx1bss
