What every citizen of BC should know about the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is that at the end, it has a section that essentially argues that *any* and *all* government information *must* be disclosed if it is in the public interest.

“Division 4 -- Public Interest Paramount”

It has just one Section:

*Information must be disclosed if in the public interest*

25 (1)Whether or not a request for access is made, the head of a public body must, without delay, disclose to the public, to an affected group of people or to an applicant, information

(a)about a risk of significant harm to the environment or to the health or safety of the public or a group of people, or

(b)the disclosure of which is, for any other reason, clearly in the public interest.

(2)Subsection (1) applies despite any other provision of this Act.

Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

Just sent a truly epic email to the Freedom of Information office at the BC Ministry requesting that they release a bunch of information that they refused/redacted in my 2000 page Island Railway related information disclosure.

It was 1160 words with 11 attachments. 😂

Feeling my citizen-power rn

Though i don't envy the FOI analyst opening that up just before lunch on a Friday in June. 😇

(blog post about the FOI request: (https://chrisalemany.ca/2025/06/16/2-years-later-my-freedom-of-information-request-shows-a-snapshot-of-government-ignoring-vancouver-islanders-for-20-years/)

Bye Bye Mini Bottles — Surfrider Foundation Canada

Surfrider Foundation Canada

This is so disheartening. #HealthCanada just continues to drop the ball on combatting #covid.

This is beyond infuriating, and it’s all because of shady deals #Canada made with #Pfizer and #Moderna.

#Novavax is the only vaccine my #immunocompromised #bced k-12 wife can take without heart palpitations. It’s also the only vaccine I will take period due to health complications with the others.

Health Canada has also always made Novavax difficult to get. Despite living in busy Burnaby, we regularly had to drive to Surrey or the back of Port Coquitlam to get a dose.

They always made it a long awkward drive because they wanted us to choose moderna or pfizer out of laziness. The other “govt preferred” options were always available at the Walmart 5 minutes away.

They have now decided to force us into these other options or simply not get vaccinated at all.

Looks like my #bced partner and I will not be vaccinated this fall due to #HeathCanada’s careless decision to forget about us again.

I have absolutely no faith this #bcndp #bcgov will care about this either. Wouldn’t be surprised if this decision came directly from #BonnieHenry herself. They have abandoned the vulnerable yet again.

I now wonder if we will ever get vaccinated in Canada again. Looks like we will have to start traveling to the #US just to get proper coverage. Shame on #HealthCanada.

They should all be fired and replaced by #vulnerable people who actually still care to fight this pandemic with ALL tools available.

This decision by Health Canada will only result in more sickness and death.

#Masks are now our only line of defence, how long before they take those away?
