For years, YouTube has offered creators the ability to translate titles and descriptions into other languages. Recently, they've also added synthetic dubbing capabilities, enabling automatic voice-overs for videos in different languages.
While these features help creators reach international audiences, they create a frustrating problem: viewers have no native option to disable these translations once and for all.
YouTube is broadening its AI-powered auto-dubbing to include 27 languages, enhancing it with more lifelike and expressive speech.
They're also testing lip-sync features to ensure that translated voices align better with on-screen characters.
Creators have the option to turn off this feature or upload their custom dubbed audio.

@flying_saucers @randahl @mroach either way the fact that one needs a 3rd party client (i.e. #NewPipe or #invidious) or a specific AddOn to undo this #Enshittification is the problem.

#YouTube's #AutoDubbing is not only an insult to the #NativeSpeakers that actually understand the language that got #dubbed into but it's also a disgrace to multilingual YouTubers that put in effort and the entire #Dubbing #Community that put their blood, sweat and tears into making decent #dubs that actually fit both time and are lipsync'd if not got minor edits to make them lipsync'd.
@mattgrayyes personally, I find the auto-translation so fucking annoying that I can only use #YouTube through #invidious and #NewPipe which don't enable that shit.
Makes me want to shout at the person at Google who decided to automatically enable this!

Automatyczny dubbing na YouTube to najgorsza rzecz jaką ta firma wymyśliła od czasu usunięcia łapek w dół.
Bo przecież właśnie tego oczekuje każdy widz - beznadziejnej jakości dubbingu rodem z najgorzej IVONY. Ja rozumiem, że nie każdy zna dobrze angielski, ale to chyba lepiej tego nie robić niż robić tak źle.
Trudno mi w ogóle uwierzyć że ktoś to tam na górze zobaczył i stwierdził „puszczamy to, będzie dobrze” no błagam.
