Another bit of writing at Modernist Punk.
It is about how marketing is failing us when it comes to the arts. It's about twitter and dogma.

“We've Tried Nothing and We're All Out of Ideas!” — Ned Flanders, The Simpsons [DISCLAIMER] This is not a critique of the folk who work in marketing. This is not a critique of any individuals, nor specific organisations they work for. Although I would love to name and shame the hopelessness I have encountered over the last decade, the departments that requested 500 posters for a show and yet when we arrive we can’t find a single one posted anywhere.
It's easy to spot a 'nepo baby' (starting to like that term) because they usually announce the gallery gig they just landed with a statement telling you how they aren't, in fact, a 'nepo baby'.

I've been involved in the arts long enough to have witnessed one full cycle. Here's a short, slightly tongue in cheek essay about organisations, employment and working as an artist.
In this essay I take a look at graffiti and who owns the spaces in our lives.
I look at sanctioned graffiti, popular with a lot of inner city areas and local councils as a way of displaying regeneration.
I look at Banksy and their bestowment of art on communities. Like miracles.
I also look at Mother Theresa.
