Ok, so there is much discussion about the alt text on pictures. My mom is legally blind. As she has gotten older her sight is almost gone. She LIVES on the computer and to say she gets excited when special attention is paid for the blind is a great understatement. Please use alt text and describe the pictures you post. Describe it as if you had your eyes closed and the only link to the outside world is what a kind soul took an extra 5 minutes to type. Come on, do it, make someone’s day.#AltText

When you think about it, the fact “the Speaker” has no power should actually scare you. My point is, the *institution* of Speaker (regardless of party or person) is dramatically weakened now.

My point is, this is far bigger than Kevin McCarthy himself. This is about structure. This is about Steve Bannon’s publicly stated goal to destroy the administrative state in the US.

I just called every rep on this list. Please consider doing the same. Tell Biden-district Republicans to vote for Hakeem Jeffries. There are 18 Republicans elected in Biden-majority districts. It's almost like a society where the most powerful don't listen to women and don't listen to the Earth and don't listen to Indigenous people and don't listen to workers and don't listen to Black people, and don't listen to immigrants, and don't listen to poor people, and don't listen to trans people and don't listen to disabled people is a system without balancing feedback loops doing what systems without balancing feedback loops do which is spin out of control.

You can insist that complex interdependent systems are simple and independent. Heck you can create whole religions, political parties, and empires based on that idea. What you can't do is create health or wellbeing or ongoingness that way.

I'm more or less part of the fediverse since 2017, but I still can't get over the fact that you people are describing images, very often making me almost content with not being able to see them at all. I've never seen so many people taking time to write meaningful descriptions on this level anywhere else.

Corporate concentration is reaching incredibly dangerous heights.

It’s not being talked about nearly enough.
