Statement from the Federation of the Era of Anarchism on the Dissolution of Its Organization

It has been nearly sixteen years since we first set foot on this path, a journey marked by many ups and downs. Our initial step toward anarchist self-organization began on August 15, 2009, outside the geography of Iran, under the name “Voice of Anarchism”. From 2011 to 2014, we restructured and continued our work under the name “Anarchist Network”.

During this period, a new comrade joined us. After six months, like all our comrades, they were granted admin access to our Facebook pages. However, the result was that this comrade took control of our two main pages — “Anarchist Network” and “Anarchists in Defense of Kobani” — and cut off our access. Consequently, we lost vital connections with comrades both inside and outside the region. The pages were eventually deactivated, and with them, we lost the name and identity of the Anarchist Network, which made further activity under that title impossible.
Initially, we continued under the name of our website, “Era of Anarchism”, active since 2013. But in 2015, after two comrades from Afghanistan joined, we merged all our activities into the Era of Anarchism collective. In 2018, alongside this collective, we co-founded two additional anarchist organizations: The Union of Anarchists of Afghanistan and Iran. Eventually, the joining of new comrades led to the formation of the Federation of the Era of Anarchism in 2020.

Now, the time for transformation has come. We must once again engage in collective reorganization. Due to the loss of part of our forces (some of our dear former comrades) and the structural and organizational shifts that followed, continuing under the name of the Federation is no longer possible. From here on, we will pursue our revolutionary efforts under a new name — one that reflects the current structure and strength of our organization. Alongside our new comrades, we will reorganize, turn our challenges into opportunities, remain collectively active, and continue our anarchist struggle focused on the geographies of Iran and Afghanistan.
We, the vast majority of former members and collaborators of the Federation of the Era of Anarchism, both inside and outside of Iran and Afghanistan, after more than a year of enduring internal political and structural crises, and with increasing conflicts over the Federation’s relations, objectives, and strategies, now find its continuation no longer viable.

Thus, we formally declare that from this point onward, we will not bear any responsibility — political or otherwise — for any activity carried out under the names Federation of the Era of Anarchism or Union of Anarchists of Afghanistan and Iran. We also disclaim any liability for the consequences of using or circulating these names.
In the near future, we will announce the new name of our organization and introduce our official social media platforms to continue our collective efforts.

When I was young, I thought that #anachism was a teenage thing and I was a liberal because it seemed more progressive and free and real. Now that I am getting older, it is my lived experience that power leads to corruption and I think that anarchism is actually a profound school of thought.

So what actually is unique about #Anachism, under that word, as compared with previous and contemporary "indigenous" forms of being adverse to authority?

I think the "everyone should do this, it's not just a thing our culture does" and "not accepting the rule (or possibly existence) of gods" might be on the list, given that plenty of ppl that didn't even have chiefs feared the rule/wrath of gods/spirits/whatever.

You cannot win the fight at #Twitter while a Right Wing, Nazi-loving owner has control.

Much better if everyone leaves and allows the fascist dude-bros to post their vile takes unheeded.

That will speed up it being seen for a hate site and taken down.

In that time, we could be here building up communities of activists and people who want to see real change on the ground.
