The uppermost section of the 1901 cast-iron Saracen Fountain in Alexandra Park in Glasgow. Designed by David Watson Stevenson, it was made by Walter MacFarlane's Saracen Foundry in Possilpark. It was created for the Glasgow International Exhibition, held in 1901 in Kelvingrove Park. At the end of the festival it was removed and re-erected in Alexandra Park in 1914.

It was Heron vs Everybody down at the pond earlier today... wish I'd had a camera!

The little birds were making so much noise everyone passing by stopped to look. Even the moorhens were having a go, getting up to the heron - couldn't see exactly what they were trying to do. Coots shouting all over the place. One swan on the nest, and another one all puffed up, between the heron and the nest and hissing whenever the heron moved towards it.

Intertwined sea monsters on the top of the Saracen Fountain in Alexandra Park in Glasgow. While out taking photos in Alexandra Park in Glasgow today, I glimpsed something moving around near my feet. I look down, expecting it to be a pigeon, but was surprised to find it was actually this rather over-friendly moorhen!
