It is one of seven Glasgow Milestones across the city commissioned to mark Glasgow's nomination as European City of Culture in 1990. For some reason, this one always reminds me of Rank Bajin, the arch enemy of Loby Dosser.

The Dennistoun Milestone on Duke Street in Glasgow. Created in 1991 by Jim Buckley, it has an interior space containing a number of local artefacts, including a clay pipe found at Whitehill School, a bottle of water from the Molendinar, a text about life in a Glasgow tenement and a tobacco knife from the nearby Wills Tobacco Factory.

The former Duke Street Hospital in the East End of Glasgow. Designed in the French Renaissance style by Alfred Hessel Tiltman, it opened as Poor Law Hospital in 1904 before joining the NHS in 1948. Its maternity services were moved out in 1977, and the hospital finally closed in 1992. It was converted into residential housing in the early 2000s, but is now empty again due to structural issues.

A ghost sign on the Melbourne Street entrance to the former Glasgow meat and cattle market in the East End of the city. Created in the early 1800s, the market finally closed in the 1980s. As far as I can work out, it says No Entrance Except On Business.

A rather weather-beaten, but still characterful, sculpture of Pan on a keystone over the Bellgrove Street entrance to the former meat and cattle market in the East End of Glasgow.

A fantastically beautiful Art Nouveau Rose tenement tile from a close on Kennyhill Square in the east end of Glasgow.
