Stuff has been done! Amazing stuff!
My #AcuallyAutistic son has let me take a blood sample from him!
He has to have regular blood tests but transitioning to adult care means no more thumbs pricks. The mere thought of a venepuncture has always induced meltdown. Even a very patient nurse at our GP failed to persuade him to let her near him.
So she gave me the kit to have a go at home (I worked in haematology for 13 years so do know how to take blood)

I don't know if it actually qualifies as an obsession, but I definitely have a preference for efficiency. I've read that it is a common autistic trait, but is it really that or is it just being smart?

#RandomThoughts #AcuallyAutistic

I love the 24 Hours of Le Mans car race, and each year I go all-in, it’s my life for half a week. This year is the first time that I’ve realised how much being #acuallyAutistic drives my obsession and perpetration, so I thought I’d write a little bit about it, and how I go about watching the race. https://marcus.helvig.net/motorsport/2025/06/17/they-go-round-and-round-how-exciting.html #LeMans24h #24hLeMans
They just go round and round, how exciting!

This weekend was the 24 Hours of Le Mans motor race. For the past decade, I’ve tried to stay up to watch the full race live, including the practice and qualifying sessions. Living in Australia, the practice and qualifying sessions run from about 10 PM to 7 AM on Wednesday and Thursday night, with the race running 24 continuous hours from midnight on Saturday evening. Do I go full ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) for Le Mans? Your bet your arse I do.

When I started reading this book I was amazed about how I managed to pick another story about how it is to live #AcuallyAutistic in this world.
But the ending was disappointing when you read it that way. It looks to me like the happy end is that the main person gets to just be "normal". Sad.
I now would like to read the sequel where she struggles again because changing her job and getting a friend and boyfriend didn't just make her oddness disappear.
I've decided to turn off basically all the notifications on my phone. I feel like i can finally relax a little. #acuallyautistic #autism
Hi @actuallyautistic people!
Do you have strategies to get through something that's necessary but very uncomfortable /painful for you (like a dentist's or hair appointment)? If you do I'd be grateful if you could share them.

It’s 2023 and iPhone home screens are still not customizable
I just don’t quite understand why

I just learned of another "instance" specifically for #neurodivergent people. Switching instances the other day was such a debacle for me, and I like this one, so I'm staying here. Any #acuallyautistic #adhd #audhd folks here too?!
