The Polar Climate Space:

Our next hackathon/bootcamp on polar climate processes is now open for applications.
Funded by European Space Agency - ESA's climate programe under the #ESApisco project, and in association with the Horizon Europe project #SnowPI, we are looking for talented ECRs and senior researchers who are interested in working with them on small group problems tackling key processes in the #Arctic and #Antarctic.

We will bring together Earth Observation data with high resolution regional climate models to get deeper insights into polar climate processes.
Deadline to apply is 1st May, more details here:

48 years of #Arctic sea ice thickness during the month of February... (updated through 2026)

Ya'all. This is not normal. This is climate change. A warming climate and the changes going on in the atmosphere it is causing is what allows these out of season, out of character, cold snaps. Frigid temps that are supposed to be contained to the Arctic, instead spread out. Meaning in the South US, we have snow, in the middle of March, a few days away from the official start of Spring. I used to live in Michigan (almost Canada), and getting fresh snow in March was rare.

At least I like playing in the snow, but this is not the correct time. Bittersweet fun. This photo I created *today*.
