Sony Surprises Photographers With the RX1 RIII

Sony seems to have taken notice that Fuji and Leica seem to be the only players in the fixed lens premium segment. And let’s be real, Fuji basically is the only player. This makes me question the starting price of the RX1 RIII. You might as well get a Leica Q3 at that price.

However, I am glad there’s competition. 35mm F/2 was also a surprise given the true competition to this is the 28mm f/1.7 summilux on the Leica Q3 – a legendary lens. While the 23mm f/2 Fujinon is a lens I love making pictures with, the Zeiss ends up in no man’s land again.

Overall, my suspicion is that the sales are going to be limited to the Youtube reviews and then the lack of sales means that we will get a revision about 10 years later, if the fixed lens world continues.

If any of my friends end up getting this, you bet, I will take a look. Personally, I will continue to stick my used Leica Q and Fuji X100.
