I love #tech, and have enjoyed #computers since the #bbcmicro. I was a #software engineer and am now a #CTO; I love working in tech whilst not actually programming myself any more 😆

I’m also into #books and #words, #fountainpens, mechanical watches, popular #science, #coffee and #cats. I’m #Cornish and believe the UK should never have even contemplated leaving the EU.

I’m Dad to two wonderful children.

I'm with Frances Ryan, there is a false distinction drawn by our political class between threats to security that emanate from the global system & those that stem from how UK society is organised.

The argument that we necessarily need to choose between military expenditure & welfare spending (wilfully) misunderstands the *real* threats to the UK population.

Rather we should see the UK's 'security' as including the plight of the population.

The UK is in many ways a rich country, but it seldom feels like that to most of us, rather our experiences of the UK's political economy are more that its a poor country with a concentration of very rich people.

Stewart Lansley agues that this is because there's been 'a shift from democratic & social control over the economy to elite & unaccountable financial institutions & individuals' who help shape the economy *for* that rich elite!

My mild preoccupation with making shells out of wood continues. I have finally figured out how to make these wooden hinges!
Plexamp Updates and Caldera Music

Hello everyone 👋🏼 It’s been a while, but I wanted to let you know that Plexamp development is still very much alive. It’s been quiet for a few reasons, one being that as of 2026 I’m no longer with Plex (as most of you know). But Plexamp has been a labor of love since the start, and that hasn’t changed. I’ve been quietly modernizing the app with all the latest dependencies and requirements (couldn’t even ship new versions on Google Play without that, as it turns out). A new version...

Well the 3d printed Psion 5mx chassis looks like a winner. 👌
Just prototype prints at the moment to test shape and fit. Will try with some tough pla or petg tomorrow. Did the prototype in two parts and glued it, will see if I can reorient and support to get a single print.
