Carbon Billionaires: The investment emissions of the world’s richest people - Oxfam Policy & Practice

The world’s richest people emit huge and unsustainable amounts of carbon and, unlike ordinary people, 50% to 70% of their emissions result from their investments. @singletona @elonjet Much creepier what Twitter tracks for every user: device info, location info, inferred identity, etc.
@drewharwell But what are the legal implications of accusing an innocent person of doxxing, slandering them, of calling sites malware that are not, of rewriting terms of service on a whim? Let’s not forget he leads a mob of millions who can attack anyone or start an insurrection. Saying “fire” in a crowded theater is not protected #freespeech even if you own the theater. #twitterpurge

@liztai That makes sense—it takes time for whole networks of people to migrate and rehome. The Twitter drama is just a reminder about what was always true about corporate social media but the word is still getting out. Hope it spreads the world round!
@liztai But the administration of #Twitter is pro-fascism, part of the American right-wing, imperial, colonial, capitalist, war machine. It is a corporate monopoly that has worked for years to eliminate competition. It used to be a tool for democracy but with #ElonMusk taking over, #Mastodon seems so much better for activists speaking out against injustices.
Interesting to watch a parliamentary debate on avian flu and not hear intensive poultry farming as a risk mentioned once. Those sheds rammed full of badly looked after birds are a lab for disease mutations
Modern pesticides damage the brain of bees so they can’t move in a straight line - Science & research news | Frontiers

By Mischa Dijkstra, Frontiers science writer Researchers show for the first time that honeybee foragers exposed to the pesticides sulfoxaflor and imidacloprid have an impaired optomotor response, which makes them poor at keeping themselves on a straight trajectory while moving. This impairment is accompanied by damage to brain cells and dysregulation of detoxification genes. These

@j35se yes!
If you are using #Twitter still, how do you justify giving over your content, personal data, and social relationships to a profit-driven corporation that uses secret #algorithms, undermines #democracy, spreads #hate, and is led by an unhinged #billionaire? #question #riptwitter #elonmusk
