I got the cutest little Wesley Crusher sweater ornament from my crafty friend, who has them available for pre-order in her shop: https://shop.miriamfelton.com/product/tiny-wesley-crusher-sweater

It’s so freaking cute and I love it!! #StarTrek

Tiny Wesley Crusher Sweater

Made with my own pattern, each sweater is handknit by myself with a wool or wool blend yarn to most closely approximate the sweater worn by Wesley...

Bleh, it sucks watching everything go back to in-person this last year after actually being able to attend a bunch of cool things virtually during the first year or two of the pandemic

Kiddo shared with me her heuristic for finding the "nicest boy" in her classes: find the boy who is already friends with another girl. This is apparently rare enough that there's only one such boy in each class she's been in so far and all of the other boys make fun of that boy for befriending girls. Ugh, why??
A thing I'm still not used to here is that there's no way to "quote-boost". On twitter, I very rarely just RT'd; I QT'd and added context, because it felt so weird to just, like...have someone else's post in my stream w/o my commentary? I do understand the rationale given here on Mastodon, but boosting culture here is disorienting to me in the same way that "reblogging" was on Tumblr (which I never figured out).
Did you know:

Dear students:

If you’re considering emailing a former professor just to check in and say hi, but are hesitant because you have nothing substantive to say, consider this an invitation to go ahead and send that email. It really means a lot.

Listening to kiddo practice her part of the adapted Nutcracker Suite the 5th grade chamber orchestra was going to perform and she’s playing it so well! But alas, too many of the kids have been out sick (and/or haven’t been practicing), so the orchestra teacher called off the concert :(

At least kiddo brought home a 2nd violin part that I can play with her: we can be half a chamber orchestra together!

Re-posting from my new home server:
