Happy to report that @verge is now officially on Mastodon (and verified) ☺️

I really found the Barbie movie to be a profound work of art and I feel like forming a book club to rewatch and discuss the movie.

I’ve been thinking about a scene in the movie where a particular character expected all of these benefits for being male which didn’t turn out to be true. The ensuing disappointment and radicalization harkens to the behavior of the incels who idolize Andrew Tate and his ilk.

For the one year anniversary of JWST, a *magnificent* image of an active star-forming region in the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex. About 390 lightyears away in the constellation Ophiuchus. Molecular hydogen is shown n red, lighter colored gas around the bright central star is polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

If you land at Frankfurt Airport ✈️ you can travel by rail 🚆 to basically all of Germany, Benelux, and half of Switzerland in less than 5 hours.

Basically no time savings taking a connecting flight in the coloured region.

Been curious about the age distribution of Mastodon users.

Watching folks flock to Threads is like watching Charlie Brown taking another run at that football.
It must be really strange to be a kid learning about the Civil Rights movement and see America doing the same thing to trans people but your teachers just ignore the connection in classes.
New to Mastodon? Interested in law-type-stuff? I run a little bot that distills #LawFedi posts into a single feed—delivering a digestible 100 or so posts a day, not to mention a feed of folks you might want to follow. Check it out here: @icymi_law

Nicely balanced piece by Bill McKibben on the need to rapidly transition to clean technologies while also thinking about our overall consumption. Not convinced that 'degrowth' is the right term or approach but there is a question for all of us about whether we need to consume all that we do to lead healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives.
