Buried in a recent article from the people at Renew Economy Australia is an interesting nugget -- NVidia is talking about supporting high density GPU clusters with, wait for it, batteries.

The batteries provide local power supply buffering to smooth and condition grid supply. No word on the capacity, but they must be pretty beefy because one of the value propositions for this arrangement is that stored energy can be traded back to the [energy] market.
