Hello! I am Vincent (he|him); working in global #publichealth since ‘99. #HIV programming at #usaid specifically. At 50 this year, i finally finished up a #phd in the #UK. And started (oh so slowly) to learn #taiko. Grew up in the foggy avenues of #sanfrancisco in the 80s. #berkeley in the 90s. #berlin in the 00s. #washingtondc since ‘10.

Washington Post will be creating their own instance. They will add #mastodon accounts to journalist profiles.

Institutional #journalism embracing the #fediverse is important.

UPDATE 07.54 AM: WaPo is *discussing* instance, first messaging about this was too definitive. Seeing level of support, hoping they decide in favour [END]

Working myself to the limit day and night rn finishing a huge creative project, and I see that on here creatives are being shamed for sharing their work to attract followers...

Non-technical artists/writers/film/performer (and queer, and BIPOC) people got shamed in the early exodus for not "getting" Mastodon and now a LOT of them went to Hive -- which is a loss for the open internet, as well as Mastodonia.

I hope to see that change.

For anyone wondering, I'm still unable to access Twitter until I delete this tweet, which is factual journalism that doesn't even break the location rule Twitter enacted a few days ago. The account isn't marked as suspended anymore, but I can't use it or see tweets from people I follow. Using Mastodon exclusively for now and actually really enjoying it.

Hi! And thanks for joining me on this wild ride.

My colleague Paul Farhi wrote up the news on journalists' Twitter suspensions last night: https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/12/15/twitter-journalists-suspended-musk/

Twitter's owner joined us briefly on Twitter Spaces before vanishing into the night: https://twitter.com/ForeverEversley/status/1603612770892918784.

Musk suspends journalists from Twitter, claims ‘assassination’ danger

Many of the journalists, including from The Washington Post and New York Times, had written about dramas surrounding billionaire Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter.

The Washington Post
Statement from Washington Post Executive Editor Sally Buzbee:
Ironically, the Great Banning is the first time that Mastodon has felt like it's fulfilling the role for me that Twitter once did—a place to keep up-to-date on a fast-moving event, where everyone is talking about the same thing
Hello. Is this thing on?

Many of the journalists Elon suspended today on Twitter are here on #Mastodon. Please follow and boost:
