“If huge cars disappeared, the biggest losers wouldn’t be drivers but carmakers. Some of them have probably been kept alive by the outsized profits from SUVs. If we let SUVs keep fouling the planet we might as well admit there’s no sacrifice we’re willing to make for the climate.”

We should regulate SUVs out of existence

They’re not only awful for the climate, they’re also killing pedestrians, including children in driveways

Triple locking my favorite, irreplaceable, bike.

People opposing car-lite and car-free spaces now will be remembered the same way people who objected to non-smoking sections and entire facilities are now. It’s unbelievable we allowed kids to be exposed everywhere to tobacco smoke everywhere. Eventually many will feel the same way about lines of cars with their tailpipe, brake and tire dust next to schools. Of course few will admit they ever opposed reclaiming space from private auto traffic.
STUDY: Researchers found almost all road users broke the law, but while motorists mostly broke road rules to save time, the most common reason for people on bikes to break road rules was personal safety. And yet bike-riders get more scorn & scrutiny for the rule-breaking, despite motor vehicles literally being the source of the danger. V/@[email protected]

Motorists Break Law To Save Time, Cyclists Break Law To Save Lives, Finds Study

Researchers have found that almost all road users break the law, but the reasons for the infractions differ between modes, with cyclists doing it to save their necks.

@notjustbikes even my six year old loved it, and it was an ideal context for learning the word “asshole.”

I didn’t provide any explanation, though, so best case scenario is that for the next few years she’ll assume that asshole just means a person who drives an SUV

It's just amazing the balance of public comments on bike lane projects in #CambridgeMA, even when the city is proposing removing half the street parking on a major commercial road! Even those against say positive comments on the changes, probably >80% supportive!

The Cycling Safety Ordinance is a real game changer!

Running my next overnight test. Now using an 18560 Li-ion pack that should get me about 6 days of runtime. Also now using a waterproof enclosure that's a perfect fit for the battery pack. There's enough extra room in there to be able to double up on batteries and run for a week and a half.

@twopirc Sweet@ It's a year ago this month for me. I sold my plug-in SUV and bought more bicycles. Never regretted it!
Going strong at three years since I last used a car to get to work. I'll never willingly go back.
