Cleese was spot on, even if today they use the term “woke.” For fascism to take root, empathy must first be eroded, a fact that fascists well know. This assault has been taking place in America since the 80s, accelerated dramatically since the emergence and rise of the right wing media. Our democracy now sits upon thin ice.
